A youth rally was held in Muhlenberg Township to educate and unite the public about mental health issues.
The Redding Youth Volunteer Corps' Youth Mental Health Ambassadors and Muhlenberg High School's Aevidom Club teamed up to host an event at the high school on April 8th.
The rally, which brought together more than 100 Berks College students, was titled “Building Community Unity” and demonstrated the power of youth-led efforts to tackle critical issues such as mental health, organizers said in a release. .
Officials said the day was dedicated to promoting awareness and understanding, as well as equipping participants with healthy coping mechanisms. It was completely youth-led and aimed to create a supportive environment where young people could learn, grow and support each other.
Officials said participants received education about mental health and learned valuable coping skills through engaging activities and interactive sessions.
One of the highlights of the event was a hands-on coping skills station that gave attendees the opportunity to explore different techniques to manage stress and improve overall health. From mindfulness exercises to creative outlets, the stations provided practical tools that participants could incorporate into their daily lives, officials said.
A student-led panel discussion was also held, with youth mental health ambassadors and Aevidam members sharing their perspectives and experiences.
Officials said the rally demonstrated the dedication and passion of young people championing mental health initiatives and will help inspire positive change.
