England scored eight tries against Wales at Ashton Gate in front of a record crowd of 19,705 at the Red Roses' home game on the outskirts of Twickenham.
John Mitchell's side had a dominant start with Maude Muir, Zoe Aldcroft, Hannah Botterman and Lark Atkin-Davies scoring four tries in the first half.
After the break, England had tries from Ellie Kildon and Abbie Dow, while Kyra Bevan finally got Wales back on track.
Lock Rosie Galligan responded and Kildan scored her second goal.
The previous attendance record was the 15,836 people who gathered at Welford Road to watch England beat Ireland 69-0 in the 2022 Six Nations.
The victory means the Red Roses, who returned to the top of the table with France's win over Scotland earlier on Saturday, remain on course for a third consecutive Grand Slam title and sixth consecutive Six Nations title.
England next face Scotland on April 13th, while Wales travel to Ireland looking for their first win.
England get off to a fast start in front of record crowd
The decision to play the match in Bristol meant that supporters from both sides of the border could easily pack into Ashton Gate.
With the atmosphere swinging on a record-breaking day, England wasted no time in entertaining when Abbey Dow darted up from the right and then prop Muir powered over near the tryline.
Head coach John Mitchell made it clear from the start of the tournament that he would figure out his player group and rotate the squad significantly by the 2025 home World Cup.
Mitchell made seven changes for the game, and center Megan Jones wasted no time justifying her selection, continuing to pose an offensive threat throughout.
Following Aldcroft's try for his 50th cap, Jones broke through until he found Jess Breech with a superb grubber kick. England then quickly recycled the ball and Botterman scored his third try.
In Parma vs. Italy, the Red Roses got off to a slow start with a number of handling errors, but they kicked things up a gear in the second half by scoring six tries and opened the Six Nations with a win.
A lack of urgency and tempo was not a problem for Bristol, with Atkin-Davies scoring from a maul and scoring England's bonus-point try within the first 40 minutes.
One of the negatives that continues to plague the Red Roses is goal-kicking, with Holly Aitchison struggling, as well as Italy's Zoe Harrison, with just three conversions from the tee.
Wales' struggles continue
Wales narrowly lost to Scotland last weekend, with Luc George missing a last-minute conversion, resulting in a draw.
Star wing Jasmine Joyce, who impressed against Scotland, was forced off with a late injury to the game in Bristol due to a hamstring strain.
Despite the setback, Ioan Cunningham's side spent most of the first half in England's 22nd minute, but missed a sharp attack from Joyce and failed to make the decision.
Meanwhile, conditions continued to be tough for the Red Roses, with Kildan and Dow diving into corners early in the second half.
Kildon was the scorer in the second half. She hit her second double in recent weeks under great pressure.
The defeat was at least an improvement on Wales' 59-3 loss to England in last year's Championship, but the difference is still significant.
Another loss means Cunningham's side are without a win in five games, but the Red Roses have yet to lose since losing to New Zealand in the 2022 World Cup final.
