Housing stands out as one of the two most important material aspects of an individual's life, along with employment and work.Expanding beyond mere boundaries brick and mortarHousing encompasses a complex social system, consisting of diverse subsystems across different levels.
It is therefore an important social determinant of population health and health inequalities and is part of PAHO's Health Promotion and Social Determinants of Health Division, part of PAHO's Social and Environmental Determinants for Health Equity Division. It is also an important course of action for the causal department.

This webinar will address some of the housing and health challenges in the Americas from a PAHO perspective. This represents research and concepts to understand how housing and health are closely linked, and five key pathways linking housing and health are described.
- quality and condition of housing;
- housing stability and security, including the health effects of homelessness and migration;
- housing affordability,
- neighborhood context and
- Social connections and care.
Additionally, this webinar will discuss the importance of health equity, the concept of a right to housing, and trauma-informed co-designed housing structures, programs, and services. Finally, there will be space for reflection and discussion by three of his participants involved in housing and health research and activism.
