As NFTs boomed in 2021 and Meta went all in on the Metaverse, many legacy companies started working on Web3-adjacent or Metaverse projects. As interest in NFTs and the Metaverse stagnated, many of these brands quietly shut down their Web3 efforts and project leaders left or transitioned roles. Starbucks Odyssey has become the latest such victim.
But Adidas seems to have one foot in the metaverse.
Moving to an acquisition app STEPN announced this week a “long-term collaboration” with a global sports brand. Previous partnerships include the launch of his 1,000 Solana-based generated NFTs for Adidas sneakers.

Adidas NFTs were sold this week for 10,000 GMT each, worth about $2,400 at current prices.

Also this month, the Web3 online survival game show “Crypto the Game” now allows users to bid on Adidas-branded jerseys in an immunity challenge.
Adidas' global head of Web3 strategy is Evgeniy Medvedev, who previously worked in business development at NFT company Rarible.

Phenomenal film composer Hans Zimmer's catalog includes The Lion King, Dune, Interstellar, and now the layer 1 blockchain TRON.
The three-minute “Song for the Web3 Generation” is “a groundbreaking collaboration between legendary composer Hans Zimmer and a blockchain visionary.” [Justin Sun]According to a YouTube video uploaded by TRON.
Sun founded TRON in 2017, but stepped down as CEO in 2021. He has been in legal trouble ever since. This week, the Securities and Exchange Commission filed documents asserting jurisdiction over Sun, charging it with “fraud and other violations of securities laws.”
