“We’re thrilled to be working with Good Samaritan,” said Rob Maclin, CEO of Good Samaritan and a VU alumnus. Vincennes University is currently making investments in the medical field that will have a significant impact not only on Good Samaritan, but on our mission for decades to come. The biggest challenge Good Sam faces is access to world-class caregivers and the ability to recruit and retain the best talent, not only for Good Samaritan but also for this community. Today we are launching what I think will be one of the greatest feeder systems for health care in this region, and for health care across the state. The center will train and educate a variety of caregivers, from nurses to pharmacy technicians, surgical technicians, health information managers and other allied health professionals, and will be able to train and educate a variety of caregivers, from nurses to pharmacy technicians, surgical technicians, health information managers and other allied health professionals, and will be able to train and educate a variety of caregivers, from nurses to pharmacy technicians, surgical technicians, health information managers and other allied health professionals. A gem in the heart of campus
The Health Sciences and Active Learning Center is strategically located within the Vincennes campus, further enhancing its transformative potential.
Located in the heart of campus, it serves as a beacon of accessibility and convenience. Its central location invites exploration and engagement from all directions. The center will be built at the site of the former Harrison Hall between 2nd and Chestnut Streets Indianapolis. It serves as a hub that easily connects students, faculty, staff, and visitors to our vibrant campus. The center is scheduled to open in fall 2025.
The new facility will nearly double the footprint of the current Health Sciences Center. This is the future home of nursing, health information management, surgical technology, physical therapist assistant, pharmacy technology and funeral services education programs. An active learning center will also be set up.
The latest jewel in VU's academic crown will be a stunning addition to the Vincennes campus, featuring an eco-friendly design. The center's aesthetic will continue that of newer buildings in the same area, including its closest neighbor, Updike Hall (Science, Engineering, and Mathematics Center).
Students have access to state-of-the-art classrooms, simulation labs, and interdisciplinary health labs equipped with the latest technology to reflect the evolving needs of medical education.
“This state-of-the-art facility will enable VU students to excel in in-demand and rewarding careers,” said Michelle Cummins, dean of the College of Health Sciences and Human Performance. We empower students and provide an environment where they not only gain knowledge, but actively apply it. By fostering innovation, collaboration, and hands-on learning, we improve health standards and strengthen communities across Indiana and beyond. This will serve as a catalyst for producing highly skilled professionals who will make a significant contribution to the welfare of society and society.”
