This millet has been approved every four years since 1980. Millets generate approximately $10.3 million in annual revenue, according to an ISD press release.
The previous renewal expired at the end of 2023, so the request was written as an increase rather than a renewal.
Funds raised from the millage will help operate special education services for schools in Charem ISD, including reimbursing districts for special education programs, funding specialized training for teachers, providing special transportation, and more .
Special education programs offered through ISD are supported by local, state, and federal grants.
