A good idea has the potential to become a successful business.
Shane Kinson, a student at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh majoring in audio production/music business, thinks his idea is a good one. He caught the attention of the judges as the top entry in the recently held Culver's Business Model Competition.
Mr. Kinson introduced his entry. noise still, won first place and the People's Choice award. He is developing specialized noise-cancelling headphones for autistic people to help them integrate better with non-autistic people in the workplace. These headphones can expand or compress sound to the level the user desires, and can only pick up sound from a specific direction, preventing distractions and overstimulation. Masu.
Kinson beat out William Dorsett, a mechanical engineering technology major, for his performance. Powered by courage The business won runner-up honors as a manufacturer of tools and equipment, including modular gear lockers for the firefighting industry. Third place went to Noah Bauer, a marketing major. Mill City Farms.
Kinson and Dorsett will compete in The Pitch, a regional startup business pitch competition for college teams from northeastern Wisconsin, on April 24. The event will be held at Fox Cities Stadium in Appleton and is open to the public.

The Culver's Business Model Competition, with a total prize pool of approximately $27,500 in cash and in-kind prizes, was judged by business coach/entrepreneur Pat Van Abel of Badger Sports Park+. UWO graduate Craig Culver was a special guest and spoke about the creation of Culver's Restaurant at the Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation's signature event, where students from all walks of life pitch their business ideas and compete for cash prizes and business development support.
