Upper Arlington City Schools is the latest school district to cancel classes Monday due to the total solar eclipse.
The district announced late Sunday afternoon that all schools in Upper Arlington, including Burbank Infant School and UA Online Academy, will be closed starting Monday due to “staffing issues.”
Upper Arlington had previously planned to release students early.
“All of our staff members value the importance of education and understand the impact school closures have on families,” the district said in an Instagram post. “Unfortunately, the uniqueness of the circumstances surrounding the eclipse presented us with staffing challenges that impacted our ability to safely supervise all students.”
“At this time, we have decided it is best to call now and give families time to make arrangements if they have childcare needs,” it added.
Southwest City Schools made a similar sudden change of plans on Friday, announcing it would close its schools on Monday. The district also cited staffing concerns as a reason.
Other local school districts canceling classes Monday include Columbus City Schools, Dublin City Schools, Hilliard City Schools and Olentangy Regional School District.
