UC Davis Health has cut 150 positions across the organization, the health system confirmed Thursday. In a statement to KCRA 3, a health system spokesperson said accelerated growth in the Sacramento region prompted the significant increase in expenses. The statement said the job cuts were one of the measures taken to “adjust expenses and revenues before the start of the next fiscal year on July 1.” The health system said the organization has more than 19,000 employees and fewer than 1% of positions will be cut. The statement said the positions to be eliminated “are comparable to the number of people who voluntarily leave their positions for several months.” The health system said none of the positions being eliminated will impact patient care and that it actually employs more than 80 patient care positions. The health system said eliminating the position will put the organization in a healthier financial position.
