SHREVEPORT (KTBS) — Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson accomplished a lot in his two days in Shreveport.
On Thursday, he and city officials sealed the deal with G-Unit Studio officials during an afternoon signing ceremony, followed by a welcome party. On Friday, the hip-hop mogul met with major business owners and downtown leaders about bringing not only movies but other businesses to the city.
Jackson said building a relationship with the city is important to making it successful. He's not just thinking about his G-Unit Studios and has no intention of competing with existing businesses. Instead, he wants to attract more businesses.
“I'm looking at it because there's a lot of great opportunity here. I'm not going to put competitors next to each other and say, 'No, this business already exists, so we don't need to do that.' I think so. we want something different. “When people come out, a lot of people want to enjoy the nightlife,” Jackson said.
And he wants to be part of the transformation of Shreveport's nightlife. Mr. Jackson is already considering a building to purchase in downtown Shreveport.
Shreveport-Bossier President Stacy Brown said 50 Cent will have an economic impact on the downtown area.
“This could have a huge impact on our economy, not only for individuals in the film industry who come here, but also for people who want to visit the film industry and see what's going on. '' said Brown.
Like many other business owners, Ryan Williams believes this will benefit entrepreneurs in a number of ways.
“Anytime someone wants to invest in your community, I think that's a good thing. I think that's awesome. Along with all the rest of the stuff, we come to town. This is I think it’s just part of the picture,” Williams said.
As for 50 Cent, he says he's glad the community has welcomed him with open arms. The music mogul is excited about his future in Shreveport.
“Oh my gosh, it's been really great. They've welcomed me with open arms. I'm so excited. My ideas for the movie studio and stuff are already in the works, so it's going in a really good direction. . That's a great accomplishment for me,” Jackson said.
