Saturday's game against Luton Town will be another chance for Crystal Palace to show their improvement since Oliver Glasner took over as manager at Selhurst Park.
Unlike last week's match against Tottenham, this is a game in which manager Glasner will be expected to maintain more possession of the ball.
The Eagles put in a resolute performance against the Spurs, but ultimately conceded three goals in the closing stages, a theme that summed up their season.
Palace have conceded 19 goals in the last 15 minutes of Premier League games this season. They often conceded goals too late and were at a loss, which is one of the reasons why Roy Hodgson was under so much pressure towards the end of his time as manager.
Glassner has called for a more intense style of play from his team, and he and his players acknowledged that this played a role in the Spurs' results.
“It's tough, but the intensity we're playing with is much higher than before, so it's not easy to maintain that for 90 minutes. But I'm confident we'll get there in the next game.” It was a week,” goal scorer Eberechi Eze said after the game.
Palace have 21 days between their game against Luton and their trip to Nottingham Forest, and Glasner is looking to address the issue.
“We started working on it,” he said. “I don't believe in coincidences. If we conceded so many goals in the last 15 minutes, we have to work on it and analyze it. [If we are] That's the most important thing to improve.
“The players are positive about improving and we have already started, but it's not something you can do in two or three days. There's one more game against Luton and then we don't have any games for three weeks. We'll work on that. ”
There are already signs that Mr. Glassner is making a difference since taking office. And with Eze returning to scoring, if the coach can prevent the opponents from scoring, they may be able to end the season on a positive note.
