In the new Teacher's Lounge Podcast, University of Illinois Distinguished Professor Gurusat Eigen speaks. Dr. Eigen is a renowned linguistics teacher, author, and translator.
She has lived a truly remarkable life, growing up in Turkey, serving as a political prisoner in the 1980s, coming to the United States to study and teach at Harvard University, and now teaching at NIU.
“Despite all the torture and inhuman conditions, how did I become more human than ever?” she said. “I think about this all the time.”
We had a long and wonderful conversation about her life and educational goals. Therefore, in order to provide you with as much content as possible, we will be splitting it into two parts.
