LAREDO, Texas (KGNS) – An educational program that helps local entrepreneurs grow their businesses is gearing up for another class session.
TAMIU's Small Business Development Center invites business owners as well as aspiring entrepreneurs to take advantage of the Small Business Management program.
This 10-course program teaches you the essential skills and fundamentals you need to run a successful business.
This class features lessons on budgeting, marketing, banking, employment, accounting, and how to get started.
Norma Rodriguez, the program's director, says it also highlights problem areas that some business owners often struggle with.
“They don't know how to open a business checking account or what taxes they're going to pay. So when they call us, it's usually at these institutions. Because I got a call from one of them,” Rodriguez said. “For example, sales tax officials and the Texas State Comptroller require you to pay taxes, so licenses and permits can definitely be a very important area, and we're going to go into more detail on that.” We can talk.”
The course begins March 19th and is offered in-person and online on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6pm to 8pm.
Those who complete the course will receive a certificate of completion.
