I'm Jeff Church, the watchdog. He is running for re-election to the WCSD School Board District A, which serves South Reno and Incline Village.
If the opposition intervenes, it will bring down a curtain of secrecy on the school district. Dysfunction is rampant in the school district, and the quality of education is declining in all areas. All that is happening is violence, chronic absenteeism, and their never-ending attacks on me.
As I advocate for better and better behavior, I want voters to be truly informed.
This lace is a “Goldilocks” lace with three options: hot, medium, and cold. He has three candidates. Me and mainstream conservative Jeff Church. Stephanie Flores, moderate; and Christine Hull, a handpicked left-leaning candidate aligned with board president Beth Smith. All three of us are well-educated and have impressive resumes on paper. I think we are the only two people who have the best interests of our children in mind instead of using this $750/month job as a stepping stone.
Here are our three websites. Select three: watchdogJeff.com, voteStephanieFlores.com, voteChristineHull.com.
You will find that my website is not focused on me, but on issues through well-researched and thoughtful articles. The first step is recognizing that things are not good and that the other existing directors have let us down. School districts cover up reports of violence, while absenteeism rates increase from 24% to 31% and exceed 50% in some high schools! Even in my school district, Damonte Ranch High School, the absenteeism rate is 33.9%, which is highly unacceptable.
One high school teacher reported that 6 out of 34 students were seated in class at the morning bell, an average of about 50% during the day. The chronic absentee rate at Hug High School is 60.6%, and many of them are talented students who are afraid to attend due to fear of violence.
WCSD reported an increase in violent incidents to 7,418 and 12,470 disruptive events in the first 110 days of 2022-2023. So what will the stats be for the next period of the year? WCSD won't even say that. The statistics are so terrible that I have stopped keeping them so I don't have to disclose them.
Our ACT scores have declined and if WCSD were a state, we would be in last place behind all of Nevada and Mississippi.
Suffice it to say, you'll get whiplash: In 2019, there were 18 top 5-star schools and 9 bottom 1-star schools (according to the Nevada Department of Education) as of 2023. And there were only six schools in the top five in WCSD. -Star schools and his 34 one-star schools in the lower ranks. 5 stars decreased by 50% and 1 stars increased by almost 4 times.
This is not just a plea to get me re-elected. Backup required. We select mainstream candidates in all four races and ask the incumbents about their plans. All board members can also email her at Boardmembers@WashoeSchools.net.
Ask if my statistics are accurate and what their plans are.
I also want to let the good people of Incline know that based on the facts known today, I am 100% against closing Incline Middle School.
I strongly encourage any group to host a discussion group. I challenge Flores and Hull to a debate – nothing to hide! Time is limited and early voting begins in May. Support quality of education, support transparency: Vote for Jeff Church!
