Elon respects all cultures, backgrounds, and experiences and encourages all members of the university community to learn and explore.
In communities with diverse backgrounds, incidents related to bias can occur that involve language, expression, behavior, and conduct, both intentional and unintentional. The university's Bias Response website is a valuable resource that provides information about what a bias-related incident is, who can report an incident, and how to submit a report.
Identity-based bias is harm against an individual or group based on their association with any of Elon's protected categories (including, but not limited to, race, ethnicity, national origin, faith tradition, gender, etc.); A tendency or preference to show discrimination or hatred. , gender expression, sexual orientation, age/generation, disability, socio-economic status, and veteran status. These categories are examples and are not a complete list of attributes or characteristics that may be considered identity-based bias.
This spring, the University and the Office of Inclusive Excellence, Education and Development are offering regular opportunities for members of the University community to learn about ways to proactively reduce identity-based bias and bias-related incidents.
