Linda Stump-Kernick, Assistant Vice President and Chief of Police, University of Florida
Congratulations to University of Florida Assistant Vice Chancellor and Chief of Police Linda Stump Karnick for being named one of the Higher Education and Health Sciences of the Year. Campus Safety Director of the Year Finalist.
Some of her notable accomplishments include:
- Launched a robust employee wellness program that addresses eight aspects of Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) health.
- Department recognized as 2023 Crime Prevention Department (Small Agency) of the Year by the Florida Crime Prevention Association.
- We hired two in-house mental health clinicians to accompany executives to respond to mental health calls. As a result, we were able to modify admissions in 48% of calls by developing safety plans and securing alternative resources that accounted for involuntary admissions.
