Spot Coffee on East Avenue in Rochester has closed due to recent health inspection results.
The inspection revealed several violations deemed serious on the New York State Health and Food Facilities website. These violations include failure to protect food at various stages, inadequate hygiene of food-contact surfaces, inadequate hand-washing facilities, improper garbage storage, and receiving food from unauthorized suppliers. This includes procurement, etc.
“We take recent reports regarding our Rochester, New York store very seriously,” Spot Coffee representative Peter Carvin said in a statement. “Once we learned of the complaint and subsequent inspection results, we immediately addressed the matter. We have taken steps to do so.”
“The restaurant is temporarily closed while we work diligently to ensure that we take all necessary steps to rectify the situation and prevent such incidents from happening again,” the statement said. “We are cooperating fully with the Monroe County Department of Public Health and are committed to following their guidance and recommendations. Pest control services are being performed on an ongoing basis and thorough cleaning and sanitation Procedures have been and continue to be in place.”
