From Dan Woike: As the third quarter turned into the fourth, rarely played Minnesota big man Luka Garza flipped the ball back into the bucket just before the buzzer sounded.
The play came after yet another turnover, but a series of mistakes made them increasingly angry and opened the door for the severely undermanned Timberwolves.
Last week, Minnesota lost Karl-Anthony Towns to a torn meniscus. On Sunday, the Timberwolves played without Rudy Gobert and Kyle Anderson, who replaced Towns in the starting five.
And although the Lakers entered the fourth quarter trailing by one point after Garza's basket, they still looked like a team allergic to good atmosphere and momentum.
But even with the turnovers, and the Lakers had 20, they couldn't hamper Anthony Davis' type of game.
Davis and the Lakers' defense responded with a 21-4 run after Garza's basket, reminding them of what they are capable of in a 120-109 win at Crypto.com Arena.
The Lakers played seven straight games at home (once as a road team), capping off a period that included wins over the Clippers, Wizards, Thunder, Bucks and Timberwolves.
Against Minnesota, Davis had a great all-around game despite the shoulder bruise he suffered on Friday. He became the first NBA player to record at least 27 points, 25 rebounds, seven steals, five assists, and three blocks in a game.
LeBron James returned after missing the win over Milwaukee and led the Lakers (36-30) with 29 points. Austin Reeves had 19 points, Rui Hachimura had 15 points and D'Angelo Russell had 13 points.

clippers
From Broderick Turner: The Clippers had to get revenge on the Milwaukee Bucks, who were without stars Kawhi Leonard and Paul George. This is because both players were plagued by injuries and were unable to play in games every day.
They couldn't do that because Damian Lillard and Giannis Antetokounmpo wouldn't let the Clippers do that, and they combined for 69 points as Milwaukee defeated Los Angeles 124-117 at Crypto.com Arena. .
Lillard scored 35 points, including nine straight points in the fourth quarter to extend Milwaukee's lead to 10 points. He also had 11 assists and seven rebounds.
Lillard scored 16 points on 4-of-7 field goals and 3-of-5 3-pointers in a crucial fourth quarter.
Antetokounmpo scored 34 points, including the game-winning free throw with 11.12 seconds left that gave the Bucks a four-point lead. He also had 10 assists and seven rebounds.

From Thuc Nhi Nguyen: Mackenzie Forbes threw the ball over her head with her hands behind her back. Tears rolled down Raya Marshall's cheeks as she tossed her T-shirt into the crowd. JuJu Watkins shared a bear hug with Tommy Trojan.
These are the last queens of the Pac-12.
USC defeated top-seeded Stanford 74-61 on Sunday in the final conference tournament at MGM Grand Garden Arena to win its first Pac-12 championship since 2014. The Trojans, led by Forbes' 26 points, showed depth in a rare off-game for Watkins, who was held to a season-low nine points.
“Today is a great day because this group that I love and respect so much was able to celebrate,” USC coach Lindsey Gottlieb said. “You don't always get to do that. Everybody puts in the work, everybody tries to do the best job they can, but to see the confetti flying and to see them succeed at this level, the words It's indescribable and unbelievable.”
Amidst a flurry of red and yellow confetti, Forbes, who was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player, whispered to Gottlieb: “Brother, am I dreaming?”

For the better part of the past two seasons, Quique Hernández has played with discomfort that ranges from annoying to excruciating, and the utility man will miss about a third of Boston's 2022 season due to injury. , gritted his teeth through one of the worst seasons of his career. 2023 Red Sox and Dodgers.
But his trade back to Los Angeles last summer brought some relief in the form of a diagnosis that multiple MRI scans failed to reveal. It turned out that Hernandez was playing with not one, but two sports hernias, and he underwent surgery to repair them. He met with Dr. William Myers in Philadelphia on October 24th.
“This is probably the first time I've ever been so excited when someone told me I needed surgery,” said Hernandez, a 10-year veteran who signed a one-year, $4 million contract with the Dodgers on Feb. 26.

From Kevin Baxter: Lindsey Horan in first-half stoppage time helped the U.S. women's national team defeat Brazil 1-0 in front of a crowd of 31,528 at Snapdragon Stadium in the CONCACAF W Gold Cup final on Sunday. A header proved to be the only goal needed.
Brazil controlled the tempo for much of the first half, but the Americans had two of their best chances after switching to pressing late. The first was when Alex Morgan got behind the defense and realized he only had a goalkeeper to beat, but Luciana charged down from his line and interrupted the play. The second goal came late in the second half when Rose Lovell's corner kick bounced dangerously close to the box and was scooped up by the Brazilian keeper.
Horan finally found the back of the net in stoppage time, charging toward the edge of the six-yard box and weaving between Brazilian defenders Antonia and Gabi Portillo to slot home Emily Fox's cross.
