JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Jaguars and center fielder Mitch Morse have agreed to a two-year contract worth $10.5 million, league officials confirmed Monday.
Morse, who also visited the Steelers, started 126 games in nine seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs and Buffalo Bills. He was released by Buffalo last Wednesday, saving $8.5 million against the salary cap.
Morse's deal with the Jaguars was first reported by NFL Network.
Morse, 31, has been the Bills' starting center since 2019. He was a key part of the locker room, anchoring an offensive line where Josh Allen finished the 2023 season with the fewest sacks of his career (24).
Since 2019, Morse ranks second in pass block win percentage (94.6%) for the Bills.
In the worst-case scenario, Morse will have competition for third-year center Luke Fortner, who struggled in 2023. According to ESPN Stats & Information, Fortner ranks 31st among centers in pass block win percentage (87.9%). Morse ranked him 14th (93%).
The Jaguars restructured right guard Brandon Schaaf's contract on Sunday, making his $15 million salary fully guaranteed and spreading his $23.96 million salary cap hit over the next four seasons. They also signed left guard Ezra Cleveland to a three-year, $24 million contract with $14.25 million guaranteed early last week.
The Jaguars were plagued by multiple injuries on the left side of the offensive line, particularly at left guard (four players started), and ranked 29th in pass block win percentage (50.5%) and 28th in run block win percentage (68.1%). . , according to ESPN Stats & Information.
