miami – An Orange County sheriff's deputy and his wife were arrested by the Seminole Co. Sheriff's Office while investigating the fatal carjacking of a Homestead woman.
Catherine Altagracia Guerrero de Aguasbias, 31, was carjacked at gunpoint at an intersection in unincorporated Seminole County last Wednesday. He was captured on cellphone video.
authorities believe her body has been found burnt out car at a construction site near Osceola County. Investigators are still working to confirm his identity. The car thief remains at large.
During the Seminole Sheriff's investigation, Orange Corp. Vice President Francisco Estrella and his wife were arrested on suspicion of illegally accessing investigative information.
Investigators say the Estrellas are friends of Aguas Viva's husband. He is accused of posing as a detective in the case to obtain information. He and his wife are also accused of illegally accessing a database containing addresses and photos of the real detectives assigned to the case.
This relationship and the couple's interactions with her husband were discovered when Guerrero de Aguasviva's husband gave investigators his cell phone.
Estrella was charged with five felonies in connection with the incident.
He has gone to court and is claiming immunity from law enforcement.
In a second development, a green 2002 Acura driven by one of Aguas Viva's carjackers was found abandoned at an Orange County apartment complex.
Seminole sheriff's investigators said the car was connected to another homicide the day before Aguas-Viva's suspected death.
The Seminole County Sheriff's Office said Aguas-Viva's husband is cooperating with the investigation.
Currently, he is not a suspect in her kidnapping and death, but the sheriff said that could change.
