The Iowa Senate recently passed a bill related to public education that is not among the three major items in this session.
Sen. Amy Sinclair, District 12, said House File 2465 is about high school agriculture curriculum.
“Many agricultural activities are centered around math and science curricula, as much as advanced biology classes or business math classes. This allows the district to focus more on agribusiness and agriscience coursework. You will be able to develop your own coursework.”
Sinclair said the curriculum would allow classes in agribusiness and agriscience to double as graduation requirements in math and science. She added that this is helpful because it helps students take courses that align with the field they want to pursue after their education.
