Days of heavy rain caused erosion in a Southern California clifftop community, nearly causing a multimillion-dollar home to fall off the cliff into the ocean below.
Aerial video taken by FOX 11 Los Angeles shows three homes atop an eroded cliff in Dana Point, south of Laguna Beach. Orange County supervisors told news outlets that the home is being monitored by a building inspector and there was no structural damage to the home.
Dana Point city officials provided the following statement to FOX 11.
“Early last week, a landslide occurred on a bluff adjacent to Scenic Drive in the City of Dana Point. City geotechnical engineers and building inspectors were on scene to assess the situation and speak with homeowners. .The City currently determines that there is no immediate danger to the residence and no further action is being taken at this time.”
Last week, atmospheric rivers caused flooding, landslides and wind damage. These weather conditions can lead to erosion and landslides, as seen in California last week. Destructive landslides occurred in inland areas, while cliff erosion and landslides occurred in coastal areas.

California faces new flooding risks as another atmospheric river storm is expected to make landfall in the Golden State later this week. The FOX Prediction Center is tracking further moisture development that will bring heavy rain and strong winds to California this weekend and next week.
According to NOAA's Climate Prediction Center, flooding will once again be a concern for much of California, especially in areas where the soil is already saturated.
