The Hartford Yard Goats overcame a 4-1 deficit to score five runs in the seventh inning and take the lead in an Eastern League game Sunday in Hartford, Conn., for the third straight game. They fought back to defeat the Portland Sea Dogs 12-5. .
Starlin Thompson had 3 hits for 4 at bats, a home run, a double, and 3 RBIs for the Yard Goats, passing Portland for first place in the Northeast Division.
Nick York had two hits and two runs for the Sea Dogs, who took a 4-1 lead in the third inning on York's two-run double and Matthew Lugo's RBI triple.
Sea Dogs catcher Mickey Gasper hit a home run in the eighth inning.
Wickelman Gonzalez had eight strikeouts and allowed just one hit through five innings, but Portland's bullpen couldn't protect the lead. Gonzalez walked one batter and had two hits.
The Sea Dogs begin their six-game homestand Tuesday against the Reading Fightin' Phils.
