Shelley Moore Capito (R-Va.), a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, announced a new plan aimed at strengthening health services, economic development, infrastructure, academic and defense research, and parks improvement efforts. According to a press release from Capito's office, other regional agencies receiving HHS funding include:
$8,465,926 in HHS Head Start funds were donated to Southwestern Community Action Council, Inc. (Huntington).
$7,678,870 in HHS Health Center Cluster funds to Valley Health Systems, Inc. (Huntington).
HHS Centers for Disease Control, National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health (CDC-NCCDHPP) National and State Tobacco Control Programs $1,229,006 to the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources (Charleston).
Capito also secured $500,000 in funding from the Appalachian Regional Commission for Marshall University's Appalachian Regional Cybersecurity Training, Innovation, and Opportunity Network (Appalachian ACTION) and for the Mason County Development Authority's Disaster Recovery Strategic Plan.
