Savannah founder Jessica Bravo was struggling to balance her career and childcare needs.
“I struggled for years,” she said. “I was fighting with myself inside.”
That's when she decided to make a change and found Savannah, a private preschool and child care facility. But she had no desire to open a traditional center, she said.
What makes it special?
Bravo set out to open a facility that combines modern educational technology and equipment with natural and ethically sourced educational materials, she said. The name Savannah was chosen to evoke a sense of nature, she said.
Bravo said the facility is the first of its kind in Frisco and features wood and toys imported from England and Australia.
The facility is being built with families in mind, she said. It is an open concept between room and outdoors that allows children from 0 to 5 years old to guide their learning. We also have a co-working space for parents. She wanted to make sure the space had neutral tones to help support her child's behavior and create a calming environment.
“This is, in a way, designed for kids to be curious and play,” Bravo said.
background
Bravo decided to open in Frisco because of the family.
“It’s a great thing in this community,” she said. “Frisco is truly America's family mecca. Families are moving here.”
The Hall Park location is meant to bring people and families together. Bravo's goal was to create a children's home where the whole family is supported and creates a sense of team, she said.
what's next
The school is scheduled to officially open in June and is currently recruiting students.
The Frisco location is the first in the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area. Bravo said there are plans to bring 10 locations to the region, with others to open in Dallas, Plano and Frisco.
“Our main goal is to strengthen the whole family,” she said. “This school really exists to provide them with resources and support where they need it.”
