Lawrence County Schools Superintendent Robbie Fletcher has been elected as the next school board member, according to an announcement from the Kentucky State Board of Education.
Fletcher, who has led Lawrence County since 2014, will begin his term on July 1 if confirmed by the Kentucky Senate, according to the announcement. This position is currently being filled on an interim basis by Robin Fields Kinney following the retirement of Jason Glass in September.
Fletcher said, “It was clear during the interview process that each person on the board has a deep love for all children in the commonwealth. If confirmed, we will continue to support all of Kentucky's children and children. I am honored to serve everyone involved.” ” Gain educational experience with each board member.
Two other candidates, Buddy Berry and Jim Flynn, were also considered for the position.
In his role, the Secretary oversees approximately 635,000 students in 171 school districts across the state.

Fletcher has an extensive background in education, including serving as a math teacher, assistant principal, and principal in Marion County. He also served as an adjunct faculty member at Asbury University.
