If you've ever driven past the intersection of Cambie and Route 4, it's hard to miss the corner store with its eye-catching bright green sign that says “Luniu Market.”
However, the sign was recently removed and the store has changed hands, according to Luniu Mall, the south Richmond-based company that operated the store.
Luniu Mall, an online Asian food distribution platform, was founded in 2018 by Richmond resident Leo Liu and specializes in Asian products and trendy Chinese snacks.
About a year ago, the company opened a brick-and-mortar store, Luniu Market, on Cambie Road, selling lottery tickets, cigarettes and groceries.
A company spokesperson said: “We have sold our stores and are now fully focused on e-commerce.''
“We are also expanding wholesale to restaurants and greenhouse cultivation.”
They plan to share details of their upcoming operations later.
Mr Liu said the company's e-commerce business had grown rapidly during the pandemic and had more than 6,000 customers in the Lower Mainland and Victoria. richmond news one year ago.
Rather than sourcing products from local wholesalers, Luniu selects many of its products directly from Asian markets. Its products are especially popular among young Chinese-Canadian customers.
Some of the unique products sold by this platform include bayberry, jelly orange, mangosteen, heart-shaped lemon, and purslane.
