Report: Big Dom's suspension affected Sirianni's sideline sentiment Originally broadcast on NBC Sports Bay Area
The Eagles' decline after starting the 2023 NFL season 10-1 remains one of the most perplexing changes in recent history.
The decline began after Philadelphia's 42-19 loss at home to the 49ers on Dec. 3, but that result appears to have had a ripple effect.
Not only was it a matchup between two NFL stalwarts, but it was also a game in which Eagles staff member Dom DiSandro was ejected for an altercation with linebacker Dre Greenlaw on the sideline.
DiSandro, the Eagles' chief security officer, was ultimately banned from the sidelines for the remainder of the regular season, and his absence hit head coach Nick Sirianni hard.
DiSandro, known as “Big Dom,” controlled Sirianni's emotions on the sideline, and without him, the head coach would have “numerous altercations with players and coaches during games.” Derrick Gunn, a longtime Philadelphia radio host, reported Wednesday, citing sources.
Sources say: With his big contract, Jaylen was pulled in many directions on and off the field, putting him under a lot of pressure that he didn't handle well.

After DiSandro's suspension, the Eagles finished the season with just one win. They finished second in the NFC East behind the Dallas Cowboys and had to play the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on the road in the wild card round, but lost 32-9.
DiSandro returned to the Eagles' sideline in preparation for the wild-card game, but it appears not much has changed.
After the DiSandro vs. Greenlaw incident in Week 13, the NFL sent teams a memo reminding staff that “involvement in game-day altercations is prohibited and should be refrained from.” Ta.
The Eagles kept Sirianni on the team despite the fallout, so they will look to bounce back in 2024 after previously reaching Super Bowl LVII under the 42-year-old coach.
