Reggie Miller will continue to call games for TNT.
The Hall of Famer has signed a long-term contract with TNT Sports, the company announced Thursday. Miller has been with TNT Sports (formerly Turner Sports, now rebranded under new parent company Warner Bros. Discovery) for 19 seasons. The new contract will keep him at TNT Sports beyond his 25th anniversary, the company said.
Miller played 18 seasons with the Indiana Pacers, going straight from the court to the announcer's booth in 2005. He has become one of TNT's most prominent NBA voices. He called the Eastern Conference Finals last spring, the latest round TNT has rights to broadcast, and this weekend he will call his 17th All-Star Game for the network.
“I have been fortunate to have had two consistent experiences throughout my adult life: 18 years with the Indiana Pacers and over 19 years with TNT Sports,” Miller said in a statement. “I'm excited to be back and proud to be a part of this great team. Let's continue to make history together.”
This extension comes at a good time for TNT Sports. This year's All-Star Game will be held in Indianapolis, where Miller was a star player.
It also comes as Warner Bros. Discovery is expected to bid on some of the NBA's media rights in its next media deal. The current collaboration between Disney and Warner Bros. Discovery runs through the 2024-2025 season. TNT Sports is expected to keep some of its NBA package, even if it's a slimmed-down version of what it currently airs.
“We are very fortunate to have Reggie as part of the TNT Sports family,” said Nate Smeltz, TNT Sports' SVP of Talent Relations and Global Communications. “There is no better ambassador for the NBA and all we offer in coverage of the league, and we are excited to expand our relationship for years to come.”
