SCRANTON, Feb. 27, 2024 (Globe Newswire) — Today, SBA Administrator Isabel Casillas Guzman Visiting Scranton, Pennsylvania, he joined Mayor Page Cognetti, White House Senior Advisor and Director of Intergovernmental Affairs Tom Perez, and others to discuss how the City of Scranton is supporting local small businesses through funding for the American Rescue Plan. It has been announced that more than $540,000 in new subsidies will be provided.
Administrator Guzman began the day at Zumo's Cafe, a local coffee shop and beneficiary of Scranton's new wave of small business startup and expansion grants, where he joined Mayor Cognetti and Director Perez to meet business owners. I met with him and toured the store. They then attended a press conference where Mayor Cognetti announced new grants to local small businesses through President Biden's American Rescue Plan.
Administrator Guzman, Director Perez, and Mayor Cognetti then headed to On & On Vintage Marketplace, a locally owned vintage antique store. They met with owners Megan Possemart and Andrew Planey, who have benefited from SBA loans and received assistance through their local Small Business Development Center (SBDC), and discussed how the small business boom is shaping up under President Biden. We talked about how we're empowering Main Streets across America.
The administrator, director, and mayor ended the day at Noteology, a small, woman-owned candle design studio and perfume manufacturing company. The company has received support from the SBA's Local Small Business Development Center (SBDC) and is benefiting from a Scranton Small Business Grant made possible through American Rescue.
