Rajesh “Raj” Sanghvi

His story: Rajesh Sanghvi is the owner of Shell Food Mart on Grove Street in Chicopee, a member of the City Planning Commission, and is passionate about contributing to the growth and development of the community.
Sanghvi said that as a member of the Planning Commission, he spends his time building better infrastructure and working towards the betterment of the city and its people.
“As a convenience store owner, I understand the challenges facing local businesses and am committed to using my platform to address these issues. “We are more than just a store, we are a hub for essential services and supplies. We strive to be a comfortable and friendly place for our customers to feel at home,” he said. .
Asian American and Pacific Islander Profiles
Sanghvi loved business from an early age. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Bombay, India.
Desiring to pursue business, he started an eyeglass manufacturing business and eventually moved into a trading company. In 2009, he and his family immigrated to the United States in search of a brighter future for his son. His son earned a medical degree and currently works in the medical field.
He and his wife started working as cashiers. In 2009, they transitioned into business ownership and in 2017 ended up owning another gas station.
The strong relationships he and his wife built over time with people led them to their current fields.
“The connections we have made and the opportunity to serve our community have inspired us to continue to grow and expand our business,” he said.
