The Women's Professional Hockey League (PWHL) announced a broadcast agreement with Women's Sports Network (WSN).
contract:
- WSN provides extensive live game coverage of the PWHL throughout the regular season and postseason
- WSN becomes PWHL's first national media partner in the United States
- The deal came after the PWHL and WSN were “bundled” by the league's advisory board members Billie Jean King and Ilana Cross.
context:
The PWHL is the latest facility to partner with WSN, following in the footsteps of the LPGA, National Women's Soccer League (NWSL), and World Surf League (WSL).
Founded in 2020, WSN is a 24-hour streaming channel dedicated to women's sports and is backed by Fast Studios.
comment:
“The PWHL is young and vibrant, our game features world-class athletes, and we have compelling stories to share. I am thrilled that WSN will tell these stories so well. “We know that,” said Amy Scheer, PWHL's senior vice president of business operations.
“This partnership will unite PWHL games and content with a growing audience on WSN’s platform, creating a true destination for outstanding coverage of our sport and league.”
