Earlier today, Iran and its proxies operating in Yemen, Syria and Iraq launched an unprecedented airstrike against Israeli military facilities. I condemn these attacks in the strongest possible terms.
At my direction, the U.S. military moved aircraft and a ballistic missile defense destroyer into the area last week to support the defense of Israel. Thanks to these deployments and the outstanding skills of our military personnel, we have helped Israel shoot down nearly all incoming drones and missiles.
I just spoke with Prime Minister Netanyahu to reaffirm America's firm commitment to Israel's security. I told him that Israel had demonstrated a remarkable ability to defend against and defeat even unprecedented attacks, sending a clear message to its enemies that they could not effectively threaten Israel's security.
Tomorrow, I will convene other G7 leaders to coordinate a unified diplomatic response to Iran's brazen attack. My team will work with teams across the region. And we remain in close contact with Israeli leaders. And although there are no confirmed attacks on our military or facilities today, we remain vigilant against all threats and will not hesitate to take any action necessary to protect our people.
