“Proud moment”Published at 08:26
West Ham 4-2 Brentford
Jarrod Bowen's 14 goals cemented his place among the Premier League's top scorers. He is level with Aston Villa's Olly Watkins and Bournemouth's Dominic Solanke, one place ahead of Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah and three ahead of Manchester City's lead striker Erling Haaland. It becomes.
Bowen's numbers are even more impressive considering he has just come off a seven-game scoring drought in the Premier League dating back to December 23.
It was also the first time this season that he had scored more than one goal in a game, and against Brentford he seemed to convert almost every chance that came his way, including a rare header.
“I had never scored a hat trick. [before]. That's what I was concerned about,” Bowen told Sky Sports. “I haven't scored many headers, but they are all important.
“It's a really proud moment for me. You're always waiting for the third goal and it never comes. I just saw a little header and it went in. I was so excited to score it. .”
Bowen said he continues to learn how to best play in the position and feels there is more he can do as a striker.
“I'm always learning,” he added.
“I try to use my energy and press all the time. It's difficult. I'm 5ft 9in tall and I'll be up against big centre-halves. I'm trying to figure out what I'm good at and what I'm not good at. I'm trying to learn a new position in one of the best leagues. ”
