IT business consultants and market experts have noted a significant increase in e-store business due to the growing trend of online shopping. They emphasize that consumers are increasingly attracted to the convenience of being able to purchase products from the comfort of their home, saving time and transportation costs and avoiding the hustle and bustle of the city.
These experts interviewed by The Express Tribune emphasized that the resilience of online sales confirms the strong demand for products and services in the market.
They stated that establishing a popular and trusted electronic store in markets with varying levels of digital literacy and awareness requires time and strategic effort. Over the years, E-Store has invested resources in strategic marketing campaigns, user education, and continuous platform improvements to earn the trust and loyalty of local customers.
By prioritizing transparency, integrity and customer focus in all our operations, we can further increase public trust. Transparent policies, accurate product descriptions, secure payment gateways, and prompt customer support have played an important role in fostering trust among customers.
Local online supermarkets like FoodPanda, Daraz, Krave Mart, Imtiaz, Naheed and other supermarket e-services have seen a consistent increase in online shoppers. Moreover, international online supermarkets such as Amazon, JD, and Walmart are also expanding their networks among their respective customers.
IT expert Mehboob Shar, who is also the founder and CEO of Icreativez Technologies, highlighted that the trend of e-stores was gradually rising across the world before the sudden spread of the COVID-19 pandemic. He pointed out that under normal circumstances, it would take 10 to 15 years to spread awareness about e-supermarkets in Pakistan. However, the pandemic accelerated the adoption of online shopping as people sought to contain the virus in their respective regions. After the pandemic, e-shopping gained momentum and is currently experiencing significant growth.

“Let me share my own experience as the CEO of an IT company. Our expertise in helping companies develop and modernize their websites and apps, as well as providing solutions to the challenges faced by e-store owners and their customers. “The search for knowledge has led to a 20-fold increase in e-store projects around the world,” he said. “Sales are on the rise and there is a growing demand to modernize websites to improve the customer experience and provide additional functionality,” he added.
Syed Taha Magrabi, Q-Commerce Director, FoodPanda Pakistan, highlighted that online supermarkets offer unparalleled convenience, wide variety and seamless access to consumers. Shoppers are increasingly attracted to the convenience and efficiency that e-marts offer, as they can browse and purchase a wide range of products from the comfort of their home.
“Consumer engagement has been steadily increasing on our platform, with an increasing number of users joining each month and year. Starting in 2023, our annual user base has experienced double-digit growth, and consumer engagement continues to grow. “This shows a growing preference for online shopping among consumers,” he said.
“As part of our efforts to improve the online shopping experience, we are continually exploring new initiatives that benefit our valued consumers. This includes expanding our product categories to accommodate diverse tastes. “This includes implementing customer-centric policies to ensure a seamless shopping journey,” he added.
IT analyst Mohammad Yasir pointed out that e-shopping stores have witnessed remarkable growth during the COVID-19 pandemic. Both e-commerce markets and online shopping venues have expanded in Pakistan, with well-known brands, grocery stores, and general stores alike adopting a systematic and haphazard approach.
He observed that the e-commerce sector continues to show demand and sustainability in the market, and the market size is gradually expanding. However, there remains a large untapped market that market players need to target through coordination and cooperation within the sector rather than through competition.
