Two senior teams advanced to the state-wide competition.
(Oldenburg, Ind.) – Oldenburg Academy announces that two teams of senior students from Jason Wolk's economics class have been selected as finalists in the Indiana Statewide Business Pitch Contest sponsored by the STARTedUP Foundation. I'm proud to be able to do this.
This competition fosters entrepreneurship and innovation in young students across the state.
An initial pool of over 3,000 high school students was narrowed down to 10 teams in each of six different regions. Both Oldenburg Academy winning teams had sustainability at their core.
Seniors Lily Schebler, Sarah Lamping, and Kate Weber founded Forever Flowers, a venture that specializes in creating paper flower bouquets with an emphasis on using recycled materials.
Rachel Lamping, Thaddeus Eaglin and Sadie Waksman secured a spot in the next round with Second Serve Threads, a business that designs custom pickleball racket covers made from recycled apparel.
Lily Schebler said, “I am very grateful for the opportunity to represent OA at Innovate Within Regional. It has been a very satisfying experience to build a business that limits its impact on the environment.” he said with excitement.
Thaddeus Eaglin said: “I am very happy that our team won the competition. The opportunity to flexibly use our business skills and incorporate sustainability was rewarding.” added.
Mr. Wolk praised the students' achievements, saying, “To advance to the regional competition against so many other students is a great accomplishment. The work ethic, creativity, and problem-solving skills of these six students shined through. I just couldn't do it,” he said. Please be more proud of them! ”
The Oldenburg Academy community celebrates as they prepare to compete in the Region 6 District Tournament on April 25th in Jeffersonville.
