“There was a time when computers were amazing. But times have changed and today people spend more time on the internet. So, in keeping with the times, I successfully completed my 25 years of television journalism. “OTV has set a new milestone by introducing Odisha's first Artificial Intelligence News Anchor,” Panda said in a report released by OTV.
Panda highlighted that audience preferences are evolving, with more emphasis on finding specific angles and answers in news stories. In this regard, AI can be a valuable tool in repetitive tasks and data analysis.
“The use of AI in television broadcasting is in its infancy, so AI News Anchor Lisa is poised to create many new milestones. Lisa is the first AI in the field of free-to-air regional television broadcasting Anchor. Similarly, Lisa is also Odia's first news anchor,” she added.
Ritisha Mangat Panda, Head of Digital Business, OTV, said Lisa is the first AI anchor in both Odisha and India. Lisa added that he harnesses the power of AI and machine learning algorithms to combine technology and journalism to deliver news accurately and efficiently.
“We want her to be trained to a level where she can easily interact with others,” she added.
Lisa currently provides news in Odia and English on OTV's television and digital platforms. However, efforts are underway to improve Lisa's proficiency in Odia. Lisa can be found on popular social media platforms such as Instagram and Facebook. The network also released footage of Lisa on Twitter.
In April, Kuwait News also debuted its own AI new presenter, Fedha. Kuwait News and Kuwait Times published the AI presenter on their Twitter feed with the caption: “What news would you like to introduce #فضة to our new colleagues?…Please share your opinion.”
While the technology is promising, the rapid rise of AI also raises concerns about the potential threats it could create, particularly when it comes to the spread of misinformation and disinformation and its impact on the job market.
