NYC Health + Hospitals expands live concerts for staff, patients, and visitors with new partnership with Sing for Hope

New York, NY — NYC Health + Hospitals today announced the expansion of its “Music for the Soul” live concert series in partnership with Sing for Hope. For the first time, the program will offer concerts during night shifts and in locations throughout the hospital outside of the main lobby. This live concert series is in partnership with the Mayor's Office as a way to honor the work of frontline staff at New York City Health and Hospitals during the height of the pandemic and to support local musicians while music venues are closed. It started as a virtual performance in 2020. The program has since transitioned to in-person concerts, featuring New York City-based musicians performing a variety of genres, including jazz, classical, folk, hip-hop, and Latin music. The first concert of the season was held last month at NYC Health + Hospitals/North Central Bronx, where musicians Larry Siegel, Hasan Bakr, and Victoria Paterson performed during the night shift, followed by a concert at NYC Health + Hospitals/Queens. Music for the Soul is administered by the health system's Department of Medical Arts and funded by the Laurie M. Tisch Illumination Fund.
