Novak Djokovic won his fifth Laureus World Sportsman of the Year award in Madrid on Monday night.

Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal both won the Laureus World Sports Awards in Madrid on Monday night.
Djokovic won the Laureus World Sportsman of the Year Award for a record fifth time, adding to the awards he won in 2013, 2015, 2016 and 2019. At the glittering awards ceremony, the Rafael Nadal Foundation received the Laureus Sport for Good Award.
The 36-year-old Serbian was recognized for his remarkable performance in the 2023 season, which brought him one set away from completing the calendar year Grand Slam. Djokovic won majors at the Australian Open, Roland Garros, and the US Open, but only missed Wimbledon, where he lost in the final to Carlos Alcaraz in five sets. He won his record seventh Nitto ATP Finals title and finished the year winning his record eighth annual No.1 Presented By PIF.
