Topeka – The Kansas Department of Commerce is currently accepting candidates for 2024. To the Stars: Kansas Business Awardss. The popular annual awards program recognizes businesses and individuals across the state who have made a positive impact on their communities and the Kansas economy.
This year's banquet and awards ceremony will be held on Thursday, October 3rd at the Great Bend Convention and Visitors Bureau.
“The number of outstanding business success stories across Kansas continues to grow, and we look forward to recognizing even more outstanding companies and businesspeople who invest in their communities and state.” said Lt. Governor and Secretary of Commerce David Toland.. ” To the stars Our award recipients embody the spirit and determination necessary to succeed in business and make a lasting impact. We all know companies and individuals who have gone above and beyond, and we encourage you to nominate them for this notable honor. ”
Companies, organizations and individuals can nominate in the following categories:
- agribusiness– Outstanding companies in the agribusiness industry, including agricultural production, products and services, and agritourism
- Apprenticeship Champions and Partners – Businesses and other entities registered in Kansas that excel in offering apprenticeship programs.
- business innovation – Companies from all sectors incorporating innovative technology into their business
- Healthcare/Nonprofit – Featured services provided by medical institutions or non-profit organizations
- Manufacturing/Sales – A proven track record for manufacturing and distribution companies of all sizes
- Non-traditional talent pool – Businesses that go above and beyond to hire people who have had previous involvement with the justice system, young people, the elderly, or people with disabilities.
- Retail/Service – Outstanding performance by companies selling goods, products, and services
- Entrepreneurs under 30 – Young entrepreneurs under the age of 30 who are successful in business
- Welcome back – Entrepreneurs and businessmen who left Kansas but returned to make their mark in the Sunflower State.
The Department of Commerce will also announce the winners of the prestigious Governor's Award for Excellence and the 2024 Governor's Exporter of the Year during the banquet and awards ceremony.
