Top needs
secondary pass rusher
inside offensive line
kicker
wide receiver
The Lions successfully addressed some defensive needs in free agency and will enter the offseason with a strong roster. Kicker isn't a huge priority for many teams, but the Lions could use a more reliable option. That could be the key to making the playoffs.
Best first round fit
Chop Robinson, Edge, Pennsylvania
Optimal fit on the second day
Keon Coleman, WR, Florida State
Dominic Puni, OL, Kansas State
How did the last draft go?
Yahoo Sports' Charles McDonald gave the Lions an F, but they had to walk it. The Lions pulled it off with flying colors. The top four players — running back Jahmil Gibbs, linebacker Jack Campbell, tight end Sam LaPorta and safety Brian Branch — all became instant stars. Judging by just the first year, the Lions have the NFL's best draft pick in 2023.
Dream fantasy draft pick
You may remember that Detroit's offense wasn't necessarily going to be a problem in 2023. There are positions in other phases that this team has to work on. If the Lions draft a receiver on the second or third day, that player may be interesting down the road, but will likely be a support player at best next year. If you really want a name for this well-rounded team, here it is: This is Cam Little, the top kicker in the draft class. A team with this much firepower should be able to offer a top-five option at a position that many hate. — Andy Behrens
