NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital and health care providers across the Hudson Valley will remain in-network for patients with Aetna health plans after contractual disputes are resolved.
The health system and the insurer reached an agreement, ending weeks of tense negotiations leading up to the March 31 deadline for insurance policy renewals. Both sides previously warned patients that negotiations were stalled due to disagreements over how much Aetna should pay NewYork-Presbyterian for care provided to Aetna members.
Dr. Brian Donley, NewYork-Presbyterian's chief operating officer, said in a statement to patients that the health system “recognizes that the final weeks of these negotiations may have created frustration and uncertainty.” He said he understood that. The health system and insurer also issued a joint statement saying there will be no interruptions in patient care related to the new agreement. They declined Wednesday to disclose the terms of the deal.
