Mike Trimby will be named a MotoGP™ Legend in 2024 in recognition of his life dedicated to motorcycle Grand Prix racing. Trinby is the founder and CEO of IRTA, by which he is the founder and CEO of Motorcycle Grand Prix.He has played a pivotal role in the formation of the sport of MotoGP™, making him one of the most important figures in the history of racing. I accomplished it.
To celebrate his contributions to the sport, he will become the first person to be inducted into the Hall of Fame entirely for his work off the track.
That being said, Trinby started his career as a rider and mechanic in the 1960s. But he soon began to emerge as an important figure off the track, and by the late 1970s he had established himself. In 1982, the riders formally asked Trinby to serve as their representative, which was further formalized a few years later in 1986 with the formation of the International Road Race Team Association (IRTA), with Trinby at the helm.
Advocating for riders and teams, IRTA continues to be an important part of the sport. The great advances in safety since the organization's founding are largely due to the work undertaken by Trinby, his wife Eileen, and his IRTA.
1992 was also the beginning of a great cooperation between the FIM, IRTA and Dorna Sport. This, too, is due to the foundations IRTA built over his previous decade, giving a voice to riders and teams. Trinby will be inducted into the Hall of Fame in a ceremony at the British Grand Prix at Silverstone, officially becoming a MotoGP™ Legend.
Eileen Trinby: “Mike would have been extremely honored to receive this prestigious award, and everyone who knows him knows that he would not have expected it either. His work It's great to have his accomplishments recognized in this way, but he may have been a little embarrassed when he saw us holding the ceremony and presenting him with the trophy. It's also very special for everyone who worked closely with him and for everyone who still misses him so much. Thank you very much.”
Dorna Sports CEO Carmelo Ezpeleta: “Mike's contribution to motorcycle Grand Prix racing has been truly monumental and we are proud to name him a MotoGP Legend. Since the MotoGP Legend concept was born, we have always been about more than numbers. “There is no standard based on simple racing.'' Mike believes that the number of wins and championships signifies a contribution to the sport, whether off the track, on the track, or a combination of both. It's no surprise that he is the first person to be honored solely for his impact off the track. “He was truly second to none in this sport. It's an honor for us and for me to induct Mike into the Hall of Fame. We will miss him very much and we honor him in his memory. I’ll keep running.”
