Global payments company Mercuryo has partnered with TON to introduce USDT fiat-to-crypto conversion service.
The initiative began with the integration of Tonkeeper, a self-custodial wallet that supports transactions in Layer 1, Open Network (TON), and other digital currencies.
Abiessa Khoo, Executive Director of Mercurio in Singapore, expressed satisfaction with the introduction of the Tether Token (USDT) on-ramp service within the TON ecosystem. The service is designed to enable migration from fiat currencies to his USDT and streamline transactions across the network.
This integration also extends to Wallet, the Telegram cryptocurrency wallet with over 900 million users, enabling instant free USDT transfers between Telegram contacts around the world.
“USDT support on TON enables mass market economics on a decentralized network for the first time in history.”
Oleg Andreev, CEO of Ton Apps Group
Mercuryo also plans to introduce an off-ramp service that will allow users to convert crypto to fiat later this spring. This feature will be available for wallets in the TON ecosystem and other major wallets, expanding their functionality.
The TON Foundation has launched an incentive program allocating 11 million TON coins to encourage the use of USDT on the network. At the Token2049 conference, Telegram founder Pavel Durov detailed new features of TON, including paying for ads, tipping in TON, selling NFT stickers, and crypto-based account functionality.
