April is Medicaid Awareness Month, a time to raise awareness about the importance of Medicaid to communities across the country. Medicaid provides health insurance coverage to millions of Americans, including eligible low-income adults, children, pregnant women, the elderly, and the disabled.
According to the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS), Michigan has many health care programs available to children, adults, and families. Specific coverage may vary depending on the program and applicant's citizenship status.
Services covered by Medicaid are provided through so-called fee-for-service or Medicaid health plans.
