Mariners rally fell short in loss to Toledo Walley

The Maine Mariners scored three points in the third period but were unable to completely come back and lost to the Toledo Walley 5-3 on Friday night in Toledo, Ohio.

The Walleye took a 2-0 lead in the first period on goals from Thomas Farrell and Alexandre Doucet. Brandon Hawkins scored late in the second game to make it 3-0.

In the third period, Jimmy Lambert scored twice, about a minute apart, and Maine was within goal. Both goals were assisted by Alex Kyle. Riley Sawchuk's goal pushed Toledo's lead back to two points, but Maine's Tyler Dorevich answered with 1:56 left.

Hawkins added an empty netter for Toledo.

Kyle Kiser stopped 30 shots for Maine, and John Lethemon made 28 saves for Toledo.

NHL: The Arizona Coyotes have placed Adam Ruzicka on unconditional waivers.

The move came after Ruzicka posted a video on social media of herself placing a white powder, believed to be cocaine, and a credit card on a counter. The team announced that Ruzicka will be placed on waivers due to her termination and said it had no further comment at this time.

Ruzicka is in the second season of a two-year contract worth $1.525 million. He has only been with the Coyotes for about a month, having claimed him off waivers from the Calgary Flames on Jan. 25.
