One to One provides a cadre of trained volunteers to support more than 180 students in grades 1 through 3 in 25 elementary schools in Northern Kentucky. Coaches help students overcome reading and writing challenges, gain confidence in their reading comprehension, and build a solid foundation for future success.
We're looking for volunteers: The Northern Kentucky Education Council is seeking parents, grandparents, business leaders and community volunteers to serve as one-on-one reading coaches at Covington and Newport Elementary Schools.
Coaches meet with the same students once a week for approximately 35 minutes during class.
Coaches are required to attend a free 5-hour in-person training session to learn specific strategies for supporting young readers. Coaches receive educational materials and supplies to use during weekly coaching sessions. Coaches are provided with continuing professional development opportunities throughout the year.
