Leicester City goalkeeper Mads Hermansen said it was “healthy” for the club to overcome a poor run of form in the Championship season in which they won the title.
This season, the Foxes lost only four of their first 32 league games, but lost six of 10 from February to April.
As a result, the gap with third place has narrowed from 14 points to just 1 point.
Hermansen, signed from Denmark's Brondby last summer, played 43 games and kept 13 clean sheets, helping Leicester win promotion to the Premier League.
“Personally, it was important for me to go from Denmark to a new country and try to enjoy every moment as I try to adapt to my new life,” he told BBC Radio 5 Live.
“Of course it's fun when you work hard for a year and everything goes well and you're rewarded at the end.”
The 23-year-old quickly settled into English football as Leicester started the season winning 13 of their first 14 games in the Championship.
“We've been flying for a long time,” Hermansen said.
“We realized that nothing is easy and we all really worked together to try and find that extra percentage.
“It was very healthy to experience things going wrong or not getting the results you needed,” he added.
“I'm really happy to be back.”
Having overcome the challenges of fighting for promotion, Leicester can now prepare for a return to the Premier League.
But uncertainty remains for the club, which recently reported an £89.7m loss for the 2022-23 season and was accused by the Premier League of breaching profit and sustainability rules.
“We don't know what's going to happen,” Hermansen admitted.
“Right now, I’m really happy to be back. It’s the first step and we have a lot of great people at the club working to get this right.”
By then, the goalkeeper is looking forward to the possibility of being part of the Danish national team for Euro 2024.
Former Leicester keeper and Premier League winner Kasper Schmeichel remains the international's first choice at the age of 37.
However, the uncapped Hermansen has always been included in Denmark's Group C qualifying matches against Slovenia, England and Serbia.
“I haven't been selected for the team yet, but I would like to participate if possible,” he added.
“I'm looking forward to it as it's my first tournament as a member of the national team. I think it will be a great experience.”
