PRINCETON, W.Va. (WVNS) – Chase Murray is not your typical 18-year-old. In fact, this 18-year-old guy runs his own window cleaning business called CM Exterior Cleaning.
“Before that, I worked two jobs at Big Lots and at a small barbecue place here in Princeton. I just started thinking, 'Why don't I give it a try?' and it's certainly far better than doing anything else.” I was able to make a lot of money,” Murray said.
Murray began operations in March 2023. By January 2024, Murray realized a few things needed to change.
“I was pressure washing, but it's a little cold in January in West Virginia. I was doing both during March, and by the end of March I was doing a pretty good job of cleaning the windows, so I decided to just keep going.” “I decided to do it,” Murray said.
When he first started, Murray said he had the bare minimum. Since then, he has seen his business reach new heights.
“Between Princeton and Bluefield, we operate over 80 commercial stores and are looking to get into more residential locations,” Murray said.
Murray is also a hot topic at his own high school. Students and teachers alike often ask about his business.
“A lot of people know what I do. We do almost all of our active business on Mercer Street in Princeton, and it's pretty well-known. We don't try to hide it at all. “I haven't,” Murray said.
When asked about his plans after graduation, Murray says he wants to continue growing his business. He wants to expand his business to all corners of both West Virginia and Virginia.
“At the end of the day, I've always wanted to do my own thing. I don't want to be stuck behind a cash register or do something I hate. But this is something I enjoy doing. Yes, and I plan on doing so for a long time,” Murray said.
