Lauren Roces grew up in Marion. She found her mother Laurie Large to be a great role model.
“From an early age, my mother taught me to be frugal and smart, which has helped me not only in this business, but in life in general. She is a great example of a servant leader and an inspiration to other She has done everything she can for others. She has taught me how to do a lot with a little,” Roces said.
Roces loves his hometown.
“I was born and raised in Marion all my life. I've been fortunate enough to travel a lot, but there's no other place that feels like home,” she says. said. “I love our community and the small town feel it gives us. There are so many opportunities in Marion. I love tradition so I love the Popcorn Festival and the Lawrence Orchard Apple Fest. Our Town I’m really looking forward to seeing new traditions blossom.”
From teacher to entrepreneur
Roces graduated from Marion Harding High School in 2009. She earned her Bachelor of Education Science degree from Ohio State University in 2013 and her reading certification from Heidelberg University. She applied what she learned as a kindergarten teacher in Marion City Schools.
In 2018, she married Zach Roces, also of Marion. They have one daughter, Hunter. Ms. Roces left her teaching position, but she was unsure about her next step.
“Even though I have a degree in education and have been teaching in public schools for seven years, I never thought I would become an administrator,” said Roces, who earned three degrees from Marion. Ta.
While the leap into business was rewarding, it wasn't easy.
“Leaving a comfortable teaching job to take on a role that required a completely different skill set had its share of anxious moments,” Roces said.
Family and community support is key to success
She credits her supportive husband and Marion community with helping her business thrive. She has three local businesses in Rothes. The latest work is Grace Décor.
“Over the years, I have been blessed to decorate weddings, friend showers, gender reveal parties, and other events,” Roces said. “What started as a love affair with friends and family has evolved into a full-fledged business.”
Grace Décor rents party decorations, backdrops, and small furniture. Roces also handles event planning, balloon garlands, and balloon art.
“I put my heart and soul into each and every event. I care about my clients and their special day. When decorating for an event, I go all out,” she said. “Today is an important day that people will remember! It is an honor to be able to be a part of creating your special day.”
All about customer service
Lothes strives to maximize each client's budget.
“I pay close attention to detail. You'll find affordable options to fit most budgets. I chat with my clients, listen to their dreams and hopes, and make them as smart, frugal, and gorgeous as possible.” I love trying to make that happen,” Roces said.
Her customers agree.
“Lauren listened to my vision and came up with bigger ideas than I ever could have. She decorated with so much love and care down to the smallest detail that made our party even more amazing than I could have imagined.” said Crystal D. of Marion.
“I recently had the pleasure of experiencing Lauren's amazing work at Grace Decor Co and am in awe of her talent and generosity. The balloon arch she created for my sister's baby shower was amazing. Her meticulous attention to detail and impeccable craftsmanship was on display,” said Marian Wright. She goes above and beyond to serve others with her talents. ”
Roces finds support and inspiration from her husband and the Marion community.
“My husband is definitely my biggest supporter. He pushes me to try new things within the walls of the business and gives me dreams when I feel scared to do it myself. Daughter It's a joy for me to have the best of both worlds: being at home with my family and being creative to decorate and celebrate for others. Family is everything,” Roces said.
Roces is proud of the support she has received and is excited about Marion's future.
“It's amazing to think about how many people have helped you along the way. My only hope is that I can give back. It's great to be in a community with the wonderful people of Marion.” Roces said.
